Instead
of a traditional, boring lesson, we had a very joyful class on Friday. We had
snacks and played the cultural game. When I was sent to the Alpha culture, the
totally different culture overwhelmed me. Since I had no idea how they
communicated with each other, at first I just stood there and tried to figure
out how they played. But soon some of them approached me, touched me, asked me
some irrelevant questions and played the card games. Although I kept losing, I
was also trying to learn at the same time. Finally, not much but at least I figured out some of the roles among them. And I think this is just what we exchanged
students are experiencing. Living in a different culture, sometimes we may have
culture shock and do not know what to do, but I think what’s important is to be
open-minded and to respect others ‘cultures. I like this course and I am
looking forward to our next inspiring class.
