At the beginning of the class, we had an interesting guessing game. Everyone had a name on his back and everyone asked others some questions to get information. From this game, I found that when conveying information, common knowledge is important. Without common knowledge, they can't communicate. In this game, not all of us knew the name of the famous people. Even though others provided some information for me, I still couldn't say her name correctly. It just reminds m of a teaching skill when I am teaching: I need to find out what my students know before I teach. Similarly, when we communicate with others from different cultures, we need to consider others' knowledge instead of they have same knowledge as ourselves.
When I was watching the videos about Macau and the US, it occurred me that when I was young, one of my dreams was to be a host of a travel TV program. I want to go travel around the world. In the discussion, I found that not only were different things shown in the video, but also people different cultures had different understandings about the videos. To know how others think about the same thing differently is quite interesting.
Another thing in my mind was that students here are really willing to share their ideas and opinions to others. My classmates did raise some interesting and inspire-thinking questions, which is different from my home university. I think I need to practice more.
