Of course, class this week was interesting. I have a feeling that every week will be. This week we were able to to see the two sides of our class- Macau and the US. It was very cool being able to see the place that half of my classmates come from. I didn't know that Portuguese had a huge influence on them because of all the Spanish Colonialization. Therefore, looking at the video, majority of their popular sights are historical artifacts   that the Portuguese left, like the Catholic church, traditions and culture. There are architectures and restaurants that all have influence from the Portuguese. No wonder half of them can understand Portuguese. Also, it was interesting to see that casinos play a huge role in the younger generation and even the older generation. For leisure time, majority of them would go out or if they are old enough they would go to the casinos.

When looking at the American video, I felt a sense of pride and very patriotic. There were different visual images that captured not only the pride I have for this country but saw the diversity that this country has to offer. It was really interesting comparing America and other countries. The US really is the land of immigrants  and the land of dreams. I mean, that is the only reason why my family moved here from the Philippines. In order to get proper education, I needed to move here and go to school and get a good job-- " The American Dream".

We also talked about how we perceived of each other after watching the two videos. It was pretty interesting how they perceived us. I can't wait to see what else or how else they see Americans and how we see them.
