Chapter 11, Ryo Tanitsu

Chapter 11 mainly describes the cultural encounter such as culture shock and acculturation or cultural negotiation.
It mentions that every person who stays in different culture in a certain amount of time experience the four phases to adapt to a culture; 1. euphoria, 2. culture shock 3. acculturation 4. stable state. Personally, I experienced these four stages during the stay in the United States. In the first month, I felt exciting novelty to everything that I encounter, but after that time, i experienced had time in adapting to the life here. This mainly arise from the language barrier. For example, I had to study for the class three or four longer times than normal students, and sometimes  I did not understand what professor and classmates discussed. Especially I felt very stressful when I was appointed by professor to answer his questions even as I did not understand the intent of the questions. As I was getting to be able to understand English, I was getting to feel  better  even though I sometimes do not hear English.
In this manner, I experienced cultural accuturation curve through the life in the U.S. for almost 1 year. I would like to apply this experience when I stay in different culture in the future.
