Reaction to Chapter 9, Ryo Tanitsu

The reading this week is about the organizational style based on each culture. The reading mentions each culture’s organization or institution has different value, so the goal of the business or activity are different from each other. For example, the U.S. business culture is more likely to value growth of the business or personal wealth rather than the responsibility toward employees or continuity of the business. Chinese companies tend to focus on the respecting ethical wealth rather than family interests. As the examples noted above, organizations are influenced by each culture’s value or tradition.
However, in the modern era of globalization, we are required a cross-cultural communication or cooperation. From my experience through interaction with people from all over the world, sharing the goal or objective is the most important when addressing some issues together. All human beings from any culture have the ability to aim toward the goals. However, different cultures have different values, as a result, the goal of each culture tend to diverge from each other. Finding the shared goal or value as much as possible is the attitudes required in this 21st globalized society.
