Katherine and Margo were leading the class
this week. I think chapter 9 is a difficult chapter. After their well-prepared
presentation, I have a much better understanding on that. They did a great job.
My quiz result is the combination of low UA
and low PDI which is classified as United State/United Kingdom. But when I was
doing the quiz, I was actually doing it as what I want but not what I really do.
Environment changes people. The next question came to my mind is now I am
living in US. Is the living style in US better for me? I would leave this
question to the final reflection paper. We also saw an interesting animation
video about difference between Mechanistic and Organic structure of companies. I
pretty much agree with what Yukari said today. The factors affecting the
structure can be the goal and the scale of the company. The person in charging
will also make the difference. For certain, both two structures have their own advantages
in managing the work. However, in terms of the image of a company given to
public, it seems that organic structure is better as it promote peace and fair
for everybody. Many companies would like make it seems organic to gain good
reputation. But when you really look into that, most companies are actually in mechanistic
structure.
