Week 10 _ Reaction _ Yoyo

Today's class is informative and helpful. Thanks Katherine and Margo! We discussed about the organization culture of company among different countries. I like the video they showed at the beginning. That video clearly illustrated the concept of organization culture and different structures of companies. We usually see decentralized structure in Western companies, that power distance and uncertainty avoidance is low. In Eastern countries,  centralized structure is predominant and power distance and uncertainty avoidance is high. I think it's necessary for any company to know about the organization culture when it starts business in other city. Different cities have their own business culture and it determines whether a business will be successful or not. I remember a case that talked about this organization culture. President of Wynn in Macau (big casino) said, American people always "said what they do, do what they said". However, People in Macau are the opposite, they are relatively high context. Knowing about this culture difference makes the company perform more efficiently in this city.
