Week 4_Reaction_Gloria

3 tourism videos introducing China, Japan and the United States were shown in class. They all give us a general idea about how do these countries look like. I know more about the cultures and the famous landmarks for each country via the videos. However, noted that those videos were made to promote the countries, they are well planned and organized. We see the country as what the video maker wants to convey. Therefore, in my opinion, we just know partial information/situation in those countries.

How to experience the culture and have a more in-depth understanding of it? The best way is to expose ourselves to that culture. You will definitely understand more if you live there. I am so glad that I can spend one semester here to explore and experience the American culture.

At the latter part of the class, we act out how high power distance and low power distance countries are like. It’s funny and interesting! However, we should know that we just overacted the situations at school and workplace in the high power distance countries. Actually, we are not like that in real life! =]
