*Yukari* Week 2【Reflection】

The class on last Friday was very interesting and meaningful to me.
I learned the importance of knowing the culture when entering to the new community. To be more specific, people need to know what the difference of the culture of one and the other and the meanings behind the difference.

The other thing that I thought interesting was the discussion regarding the relationship between identity and an English name from my friends.

I think the reason why people have an English name is following:
1) Convenience (the name is difficult to pronounce for people who speak English)
2) Assimilation / Adoration (they want to be part of the culture)
3) Necessity (because of law or regulation)

And the biggest reason why people hesitate to have an English name is:identity (some think their name are the symbol of their identity)

I would like to know more about the relationship between them.
