I wish I could have taken more photos when
I was travelling. That’s what first came to my mind when I watched the video
about China. Taking photos is one way to record our lives journeys, so is
writing. Even I am not asked to write reactions, I would do so as my interests.
We were asked what our feeling is towards
the identity of being Chinese. I was born and grew up in Macau which is quite a
modern city. Although Macau has quite a lot historical heritages, Macau
citizens seldom notice them. “People usually won’t cherish what they have till
they lost it.” Just like I realized the word “hydrostatic” is so powerful this
morning. In a course I took before, most of the water flow situations are assumed
hydrostatic. At that time, I don’t even know the meaning of the word. But in
this semester, I no longer duel with hydrostatic flow problems. I realized how
important the word is. I never talked about Chinese tradition in Macau.
Therefore, when I saw Chinese tradition culture in the video, I thought of my trips
to China. Being in tradition Chinese culture, I feel like I went to the past. I
went to the place that I read in the history book. Enjoying the historical
story and the beautiful natural scene, I can forget anything bothering me. Social
influence and fame seems unimportant in that atmosphere. They don’t talk about
technology. Everything is peaceful to me. When I am in travelling, it was like
a second life to me. Maybe I can say there is distance between China and me.
But I am still proud of tradition Chinese culture.
